The Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine services at CentraCare Health - Monticello provide outpatient care to manage and treat various wounds, ostomies, burns, and related conditions. For millions of Americans, the aging process, diabetes and other conditions can lead to wounds that may take weeks, months or even years to heal. At CentraCare Health - Monticello, a nationally certified wound care specialist, working with the patient’s physician, spends time with each Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine patient to design an individualized treatment program to manage and heal wounds. A certified wound care specialist will evaluate your wound, review your medical history and general health, and may run blood tests to help develop a treatment plan that aggressively addresses the wound's healing process and your individual needs.

Based on your treatment plan, you or your caregiver will be given detailed instructions on home care, dressing changes and ways to protect the wound from reoccurring. In order for the wound to heal, it is important to follow home care instructions, watch the progress of wound healing and keep your follow-up appointments.

The Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine services team will communicate with your personal physician to discuss treatment plans and healing progress. You may be referred to a dietician for nutritional support or a certified diabetic educator for assistance with glucose control.
