The Monticello Cancer Center features state-of-the-art technology to provide comprehensive care to patients in our community. Our new technology, Calypso 4D Localization System or GPS for the Body specifically tracks organ motion in prostate cancer patients to enable more precise delivery of radiation. The system enables physicians to detect the slightest tumor movement in real time so extremely accurate radiation therapy can be delivered. This technology is the first and only target localization method that is continuous, real-time, objective, highly accurate and does not require non-therapeutic or additional radiation for treatment setup. Patients who have undergone radiation using this system find confidence and reassurance in knowing that a GPS for the Body system is assisting and providing guidance to manage any possible organ motion during the delivery of radiation therapy.
