Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) helps the body’s ability to heal itself. For non-healing wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers, compromised skin grafts, and wounds resulting from radiation damage, HBOT is the gold standard of treatment.

CentraCare Health - Monticello’s Wound Care Center and Hyperbaric Medicine is proud to offer patients in our community a state-of-the-art facility and a comfortable environment for HBOT treatments. Patients can recline while watching television or listening to music during each treatment session. Under the care of a specially trained technician, patients are placed in a hyperbaric chamber where they breathe 10 to 20 times the normal amount of pure oxygen under pressure. The pressure causes the oxygen to be absorbed in the blood stream, increasing the oxygen available to heal tissues. By increasing oxygen, new blood vessels can form, swelling is reduced and infection is fought off, helping the wound to heal more effectively.
