The Revenue Recapture Act enacted in 1980 (M.S. 270A.01 to 270A.12) created a program authorizing the Minnesota Department of Revenue to intercept or recapture taxpayer refunds and apply them to debts that taxpayers owe.
If you have recieved a notice from New River Medical Center informing you that a claim has been filed with the Minnesota Department of Revenue for your account balance, you have the right to contest the validity of this claim. You must contest the claim in writing within 45 days of receiving notice.
To avoid being referred to the Minnesota Department of Revenue, full payment of your account balance must be made within 45 days of receiving notice.
