New River Medical Center

We are excited to announce that Monticello-Big Lake Hospital and Nursing Home are now New River Medical Center. Our Board of Directors chose this new name to more accurately reflect our position as a regional healthcare service provider and to encompass a broader geographic area.

In making this historic decision, feedback from board members, community members, physicians and employees was considered to ensure that our new name would reflect the excellent service that our staff and physicians deliver to our patients and residents on a daily basis.

The name New River Medical Center refers to the Mississippi River that geographically defines our organization’s physical campus while acknowledging the constant motion and continual refreshing that our organization must achieve in order to remain vital in the changing healthcare industry.

For more than 40 years, our organization has provided patient-centered care that improves the health and well-being of our community. What began as an acute care hospital has expanded to include a skilled nursing facility, an ambulance service, a cancer center, an inpatient acute rehab unit and numerous outpatient services. We will continue to carry on this patient-centered mission as New River Medical Center.
