Lab Receives High Marks from the Joint Commission

Committed to Excellence: New River Medical Center’s Laboratory Receives a Successful Inspection Rating by the Joint Commission

New River Medical Center’s laboratory department received high marks after a successful inspection by the Joint Commission on May 19, 2010. As a Joint Commission accredited hospital, New River Medical Center’s laboratory receives bi-annual inspections that evaluate several national performance standards including commitment to continuous improvement, safety processes, quality measures and positive patient outcomes.

The Joint Commission’s accreditation of the laboratory demonstrates New River Medical Center’s dedication to ensuring the highest quality care to patients in our community. The inspection results found no immediate risk to safety or quality care for patients, the highest rating from the Joint Commission.

The Joint Commission inspection results emphasize our commitment to delivering the highest quality care while always focusing on opportunities for continuous improvement.”

New River Medical Center’s laboratory is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and currently performs 215,000 tests a year. A fully functional blood bank is also located onsite, offering transfusion services close to home. Learn more.
