New River Medical Center

Board of Directors
New River Medical Center is a community-owned, integrated health care delivery system. New River Medical Center is a hospital district that includes the cities of Monticello, Big Lake and Otsego and the townships of Becker, Big Lake, Monticello and Silver Creek. Established in 1965, the hospital district is governed by an eight-member, community-elected Board of Directors. The Board of Directors meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the medical center's Board Room. Monthly board meetings are open to the public.
 
 
Candy Benoit

Ms. Benoit represents Monticello Township and joined the Board of Directors in 2011. She is currently serving as a member of the board's Quality committee. Ms. Benoit first became involved with the board as a community representative on the board’s Legal Status Education committee. Now serving as a board member, she is interested in promoting awareness of New River Medical Center to ensure the organization continues to thrive in our community. Ms. Benoit is Assistant Community Education Director at the Monticello School District and enjoys traveling, reading, water skiing and being a grandma. 

Ervin Danielowski
Mr. Danielowski began serving on the Board of Directors in 2009 to represent the citizens of the City of Big Lake. He is currently serving as Board Chair. As a member of the board, Mr. Danielowski is interested in providing the best health care services for our community while advocating responsible spending. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, remodeling houses and snowmobiling.
 
Bob Dawson
Mr. Dawson, a representative of Becker Township, has been a board member since 1995. Mr. Dawson says he enjoys being of service to his community and likes working with fellow board members. He is currently serving as board Treasurer. Mr. Dawson retired from his management career but continues to work part-time for a local funeral home. Bob and his wife Lynn enjoy spending time at home and being with their children and grandchildren.
Linda Doerr
Ms. Doerr is Member-At-Large representing citizens from each of the hospital district's cities and townships. Ms. Doerr was first elected to the board in 1981. As a member of the board, Ms. Doerr says it's rewarding to know she is doing something that matters by helping to provide an important service to members of our communities. She is a health care executive and enjoys boating and camping in her free time.

Brian Doyle
Mr. Doyle began serving on the Board of Directors in 2009 to represent the citizens of Silver Creek Township. He is currently serving as Board Secretary. Mr. Doyle ran for the board because he wanted to give back to his community. He is very proud of our community’s health care services and the quality of our caring staff. Mr. Doyle enjoys spending time with his family and raising horses, and he is committed to lifelong learning.
 
Richard Helms
Mr. Helms represents Big Lake Township and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2004. He is currently serving as Board Vice Chair. Mr. Helms sees himself as a change-maker and says he enjoys the opportunity to help shape the future of New River Medical Center. Mr. Helms is semi-retired and works part-time as an engineer for a medical device company. He is a John Deere memorabilia collector and likes to spend his free time with his wife visiting hometown festivals and parades.
Joseph Mahoney, MD
Dr. Joseph Mahoney began serving on the Board of Directors in 2009 to represent the citizens of the City of Monticello. Dr. Mahoney ran for the board to bring a physician’s perspective to the board as well as promote communication with members of our community. Dr. Mahoney is a Pediatrician at the Monticello Clinic. In his free time, he enjoys soccer, running and spending time with his family.
 
Rob VanDenBerg

Mr. VanDenBerg represents the City of Otsego and began serving on the Board of Directors in 2011. He ran for the board position because he was interested in representing the residents of Otsego, and his goal as a board member is to see the medical center be a successful and self-supporting organization. Mr. VanDenBerg is proud to be life-long resident of the Otsego area; he graduated from Elk River High School and has lived in the City of Otsego since 1991. He is a sales rep for an electronics business and enjoys camping, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing in his free time.
