Formed in 1951, the Joint Commission is dedicated to improving the quality of the nation’s health care through voluntary accreditation of health care organizations. Joint Commission’s accreditation standards exceed federal and state requirements and are intended to continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public through the provision of health care accreditation and services that support performance improvement in health care organizations.
