The digital magnification of the breast ensures the highest image quality and provides radiologists with the ability to manipulate these images in order to zero in on areas of concern for evaluation. This new technology also reduces a patient’s exposure to radiation by delivering a 30 to 40 percent lower dose than conventional mammography.
The American Cancer Society recommends that women receive their first screening mammogram at the age of 40 if they do not have a family history of breast cancer. If there is a family history, women should be screened at the age of 30.

If a screening mammogram shows an area of concern, CentraCare Health - Monticello provides breast ultrasound, breast biopsy and diagnostic mammogram services.
