Board of Directors
CentraCare Health - Monticello is a community-owned, integrated health care delivery system. CentraCare Health - Monticello is a hospital district that includes the cities of Monticello, Big Lake and Otsego and the townships of Becker, Big Lake, Monticello and Silver Creek. Established in 1965, the hospital district is governed by an eight-member, community-elected Board of Directors. The Board of Directors meets the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the medical center's Board Room. Monthly board meetings are open to the public.
 
 

Candy Benoit

Ms. Benoit represents Monticello Township and joined the Board of Directors in 2011.  She is currently serving as the board's Secretary.  Ms. Benoit first became involved with the board as a community representative on the board’s Legal Status Education committee. Now serving as a board member, she is interested in promoting awareness of CentraCare Health - Monticello to ensure the organization continues to thrive in our community. Ms. Benoit enjoys traveling, reading, water skiing and being a grandma. 

Tom Campbell

Mr. Campbell was elected to the Board of Directors in 2013 representing the City of Big Lake and is currently serving as the board's Treasurer. Mr. Campbell first became involved with the hospital board in 2010 as a representative on the Finance Committee. Now serving as a board member, he is interested in seeing the expansion of health services throughout the surrounding communities. Mr. Campbell is an executive with a local public accounting firm specializing in financial and strategic planning.  He enjoys spending time with his wife Kelly and their four daughters.

 

Bob Dawson

Mr. Dawson, a representative of Becker Township, has been a board member since 1995. Mr. Dawson says he enjoys being of service to his community and likes working with fellow board members.  Mr. Dawson retired from his management career but continues to work part-time for a local funeral home. Bob and his wife Lynn enjoy spending time at home and being with their children and grandchildren.

Linda Doerr

Ms. Doerr is Member-At-Large representing citizens from each of the hospital district's cities and townships. Ms. Doerr was first elected to the board in 1981 and is currently serving as the board's Vice Chair.  As a member of the board, Ms. Doerr says it's rewarding to know she is doing something that matters by helping to provide an important service to members of our communities. She is a health care executive and enjoys boating and camping in her free time.

Richard Helms

Mr. Helms represents Big Lake Township and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2004. Mr. Helms sees himself as a change-maker and says he enjoys the opportunity to help shape the future of CentraCare Health - Monticello. Mr. Helms is semi-retired and works part-time as an engineer for a medical device company. He is a John Deere memorabilia collector and likes to spend his free time with his wife visiting hometown festivals and parades.

Sheldon Johnson

Mr. Johnson began serving on the Board of Directors in 2012 and represents the City of Monticello. He is currently serving as the board's Chair.  Mr. Johnson volunteers his time on the Board of Directors to create a positive impact on the quality of health care in our Hospital District.  He is interested in assisting the board through their current affiliation process with CentraCare Health System as well as developing a positive working relationship with all employees.  Mr. Johnson is retired from 44 years of leading school districts in the state of Minnesota; for 32 of those years he was Superintendent of the Monticello School District.  In his free time, Mr. Johnson enjoys spending time with his family and at his lake place on Mille Lacs.

Rob VanDenBerg

Mr. VanDenBerg represents the City of Otsego and began serving on the Board of Directors in 2011. He ran for the board position because he was interested in representing the residents of Otsego, and his goal as a board member is to see the medical center be a successful and self-supporting organization. Mr. VanDenBerg is proud to be life-long resident of the Otsego area; he graduated from Elk River High School and has lived in the City of Otsego since 1991. He is a sales rep for an electronics business and enjoys camping, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing in his free time.
